On Your Birthday

Eight candles burning
Unfold purity
Of a young dream
Underneath
The hovering innocence
Now slowly glitters
More intensely
In the warm embrace
Of love’s eternity
As your joy blows
Off the flames
Your wishes remain
Glowing in
The womb
Of your life’s
Sweet reality
.

[ This poem is dedicated to Daniel John, my son, who will celebrate his birthday on the 19th of June ]
