ONLY TEN INCHES TALL!

Posted in Daniel John's Works with tags , , on January 22, 2010 by penshadow

Have you ever woke up ten inches tall?

It all started one Friday at 7:00 a.m. before school started. When I was walking around this big statue of a squirrel,  I saw a little water in the mouth from the squirrel. My friends,  Joshua and Ryan saw me while I was standing there by the statue.

“I dare you to touch the water!” said Joshua.

On the ground, there was  a fallen sign covered with dust which read, Do not  touch anything in or around the statue. But I just touched the water and all of a sudden I felt a little queasy.

The school day passed and at dinner time I felt more weird than at school. At 9:00 p.m., I went to sleep. I was thinking about what happened at school. I woke up at 4:54 a.m.. I looked up and noticed the blanket covering me. It was very hard to lift up. At 5:07 a.m., I finally got out of the blanket and noticed that my bed was so huge. If I ran for a minute I would only be near my pillow which was humongous. I ran to the edge of my bed and fell down. Ouch! I said. I opened up my huge door. It took me an hour to open it! Once I opened, I went into a deep slumber. The next thing I knew I was in the bathroom. I heard my brother, Dominick running into the bathroom saying , “Man, I have to go use the bathroom!” I dashed out as quick as possible. Once I had the time to have some rest, My brother was walking back to his room. When he came close to me,  I screamed as loud as I could to get his attention. He saw me and took me to our parents. They were shocked of what they saw. They  called the ambulance and took me to the emergency room. The doctors didn’t know what to do to me. They took me to the hospital’s best physician. He gave me a head to toe check up. He said that there was a special kind of liquid inside of me. The liquid from the squirrel statue was the liquid he was claiming about. He said I would be normal by tomorrow though so my parents took me home.

When we got home it was already lunchtime. I really wanted to eat ribs for lunch, but I was so small. All I ate was baby food because my teeth were tiny. Once I ate it  I was so full that I couldn’t take a step. My brother took me to places where I wanted to go. When I was sitting on the computer desk I didn’t even want to open my computer, which I am using now. When I was watching the television  it was extremely loud. Ah, it was very hard living a small life! I really had a lot of troubles with food choices. I couldn’t eat all the food I used to eat because my teeth were so small. At 9 p.m.,  I went to sleep. My bed was so big that my parents put my stuffed dog on the ground for my bed. The next day I woke up on the floor and I was already normal size. I looked down and saw myself a lot bigger. I was living an average 4th grader life.

Next Monday when I went to school and was very happy, I told the story of my being small to my friends,  Joshua and Ryan. They didn’t believe it until I showed them pictures of me 10 inches. While we were talking to one another around the squirrel’s statue, a drop from its mouth landed again but not at this time on my head but on Joshua’s. He felt the same way I did. Joshua screamed because he became small in front of me and Ryan. While at that situation, it so happened that the physician from the hospital came to check on me and saw Joshua as small as I was before.

“Oh no, not another one!” exclaimed the physician.

WHY ARE WHITE TIGERS WHITE

Posted in Daniel John's Works with tags , , , , on January 18, 2010 by penshadow

Have you ever wondered why are there white tigers?  If you read this you could find out why.

In about 500 b.c.  in a grassland in Africa,  there were no such things as white tigers with black stripes. There will always be orange tigers with black stripes. There was once a  female tiger who hated the color orange because it was so drab. She was fascinated with bright, and sunny color. I wish I could be a different color, perhaps yellow. Maybe I shall ask the god of the grassland to paint me yellow with his magnificent paint, she said to herself. She entered the temple of the god of the grassland.

“Oh, great god of the grassland, help me! Could you please paint me yellow with your magnificent paint,” she asked.

“Sure,” replied the god.

But there was one catch,  the god was color blind. He  got white instead of yellow paint. The female tiger turned so the god could paint her. She did not notice that she was being painted white instead of yellow. It took about an hour for the god to paint the female tiger. When he was done, he was going to put a mirror in front of her, but the tiger didn’t let that happen. She dashed outside as fast as a cheetah.

Other tigers looked at her strangely and said to one another,    “There’s something peculiar about the way she is colored.”

Everyone was silent until a tiger said, “Hey! You are white!” and started laughing.

Another tiger gave her a mirror and she was suprised. She ran all the way to the temple.

“I demand you wash this paint off of me!” said the female tiger.

“Sorry,” said the god. “That paint is permanent and it’ll never come off,” he added.

“What if you replace my white color with yellow by painting my white areas yellow?”

The god said, “I can’t because if I do that, the yellow paintbrush will become white, too. Do you see what I mean?”

“Yes,  your honor, ” said the tiger.

Three months later the female tiger gave birth and had tiger cubs that are white.   So then, the white tigers became white.

EMPTY ROOM

Posted in Daniel John's Works with tags , , on January 18, 2010 by penshadow

At school there is an empty room. I have an idea on what to change it into. I am going to ask the principal to change it into an animal and plant research room.

I want to make it an animal and plant research room because I want people to learn more about animals, plants and ways to protect them from becoming extinct. The classroom is 40×40 with four sets of six lights hanging from the ceiling. There will be ten desks on the left side, ten on the right and ten in the center of the classroom. In the back of the classroom there is a television to watch videos of animals and plants. There will be thirty computers for students to research on  and a projector. There will be a classroom library with books on endangered animals and plants on every bookshelf. There will be a file cabinet to hold information of animals and plants. There will be cubby holes to hold the students supplies for them. Inside every desk will be two binders and two notebooks. The binders are for holding the information of the animals and plants the students research on. The notebooks are for writing information of animals and plants.

I hope the principal will accept my idea of turning the empty room into an animal and plant research room.  That way, more students can learn more about endangered animals, plants, and ways to protect them from becoming extinct.
